Advanced Systems Roadmap

Intelligence first. Then the software and sensors to scale it.

Nothing on this page ships today. It describes the software, AI, RF/PNT, and cybersecurity technology Direwolf is building toward, in the order that customer problems are expected to demand it.

The sequence

Why the roadmap starts with intelligence

The constraint in space intelligence is the analyst's time. Every tool on this roadmap is intended to let one analyst process dramatically larger volumes of space information, and, later, to lead to the sensors and systems that produce it.

Direwolf does not begin by designing a spacecraft. It begins with intelligence, because intelligence work surfaces customer problems in detail. Recurring monitoring turns those problems into repeatable workflows. Repeatable workflows justify internal software, and internal software that proves itself becomes a product customers can buy.

Customer problems drive the technology roadmap. That is the reason the company is being built in this order.

The Space Intelligence Analysis Platform: planned

Not another map of dots orbiting Earth.

The Direwolf Space Intelligence Analysis Platform is planned software for analysts. It will combine orbital data, intelligence, historical behavior, sources, watchlists, threat information, analyst notes, and AI in one working environment. An analyst will select a spacecraft and see what the organization knows about it, in one place.

The plan is to develop it first for Direwolf's own analytic work. If it makes that work substantially more efficient, it will be turned into something customers can buy.

AI-assisted analysis: R&D priority

More information per analyst, not fewer analysts.

The goal of AI in the software Direwolf plans to build is not to replace the analyst. It is to let an analyst process dramatically larger volumes of space information: AI-assisted collection, correlation, anomaly detection, reporting, research, and analysis. The analyst's judgment remains the product.

Example query 01

“Summarize significant activity by Chinese military spacecraft during the past 30 days.”

Reporting: significant activity, summarized across a period.

Example query 02

“Identify spacecraft whose recent behavior differs significantly from their historical behavior.”

Anomaly detection: recent behavior compared with historical behavior.

Example query 03

“What objects associated with this program have maneuvered during the past 90 days?”

Correlation: objects, programs, and maneuver history, linked.

Example query 04

“Generate an intelligence summary of this spacecraft and its associated foreign program.”

Research and analysis: an intelligence summary drafted for the analyst's review.

Questions the platform will eventually answer. None of this capability exists today.

RF and PNT technology: later-stage R&D

GPS is degraded in your operating area and you cannot say by what.

Direwolf intends to develop equipment or software capable of detecting, characterizing, mapping, and potentially geolocating RF or GNSS interference, including GPS jamming and spoofing detection and correlation.

  • DetectRecognize that RF or GNSS interference is present, including GPS jamming and spoofing.
  • CharacterizeDescribe the nature of the interference.
  • MapPlace the interference in an operating area.
  • GeolocatePotentially locate the source, with correlation across events.

Today

The intelligence product that exists now

This is later-stage work that depends on hardware and test capability the company is not yet positioned to field. Today, Direwolf addresses this problem through RF/PNT interference analysis as an intelligence product.

Space cybersecurity technology: long-term direction

Over time, security technology for the systems that fly the mission.

This direction follows naturally from the founder's cybersecurity background and from the Space Security intelligence work the company does today. Until that technology exists, Direwolf's Space Security offering remains intelligence and analysis.

Planned, over time

Security technology for satellites, ground systems, command-and-control infrastructure, telemetry networks, and other mission systems.

Growth flywheel

From intelligence services to larger programs

Each stage of the roadmap grows out of the one before it. Customer problems drive the technology roadmap, and the sequence below is the order in which Direwolf expects them to demand it.

  1. Intelligence services

Assessments, briefings, and custom RFIs, delivered today.

  2. Learn customer problems

Each engagement surfaces the problems worth solving, in detail.

  3. Recurring monitoring

Watch requirements turn those problems into repeatable workflows.

  4. Internal software

Repeatable workflows justify tools built first for Direwolf's own analysts.

  5. Commercial software

Software that proves itself becomes something customers can buy.

  6. Government-funded R&D

Programs such as SpaceWERX, SBIR, and STTR could fund portions of the roadmap as the technology matures.

  7. Proprietary technology

RF and PNT, space cybersecurity, sensors, and ground systems developed from that research.

  8. Larger programs

Larger government and commercial programs built on proprietary technology.

Government-funded research and development

Programs that could fund the roadmap

Over time, programs such as SpaceWERX, SBIR, STTR, and other Department of Defense research and development programs could fund portions of this roadmap. Direwolf intends to pursue them as the technology matures. No award has been made and none is claimed.

Now

What this means for customers today

Every tool on this page will be shaped by the intelligence work available today. If an organization has a problem in the space domain that current tools do not solve, describing it to Direwolf is the most direct way to influence what gets built.

In the meantime, the assessments, RF/PNT interference analysis, and monitoring described on the Intelligence page are the current answer to the problems this roadmap is meant to solve.

Shape the roadmap

The roadmap is written from problems customers describe. Describe yours.

Send the problem, the decision it supports, and the timeframe. Direwolf will respond by email.
